In 2018 the Workhouse family camps are going REALLY WILD! We’re getting back to nature, using OPAL ecology surveys to improve our understanding of wildlife on site and applying what we find in creative ways. We’ll also be keeping camp journals that will build over the year into a comprehensive learning record.
7th April 2018 – pre camp craft day FREE EVENT! 10 – 2pm drop in
Spring is late this year and it’s looking likely that April won’t be particularly pleasant camping weather. So we’ve decided to just get together for a day of crafting to prepare for the wild weekends ahead. Based indoors, we’ll be making our camp baseball caps and journals and we’ll also be helping to set up an orienteering course around site.
5-6th May 2018 – bugs & bats
£3pp or £10 per family, including camping, basic vegetarian pizza ingredients (please feel free to bring your own specialist toppings and campfire snacks!) and cereal/toast breakfast. Pre booking essential – call 07534354082 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Our first camp of the year. Join us from midday Saturday to setup, then help with our OPAL Bugs on bushes survey, set out our moth trap and become bat detectives with our friendly Bat expert. We’ll be making our ever popular DIY pizzas on the cob oven for tea and enjoying the campfire while we star gaze the night away. Then on Sunday morning we’ll be getting creative with what we’ve learnt. Camp closes at midday but you’re free to stay and play the day away.
